1988 - Settling

The protests have dried up. It is the decade of the “Yuppie” culture, where career ambitions and financial success have replace the ideologies of the 1960s. The focus is on a rather more materialistic lifestyle with property in often urban areas. The property market in the UK is booming, very much encouraged by the passing of Thatcher´s Housing Act in 1980. The power of the unions was curbed by the introduction of several Employment Acts introduced by Thatcher´s conservative government.
